Analysis of Delhi election 2015

Delhi Assembly election was held on 7 February 2015 and results were announced on 10 February 2015. AAP got majority by winning 67 of the 70 seats and 3 seats won by BJP. Many things said before and after election. I heard many debate post result and listened to views of many political experts on the result. It has been said that this is lost of Modi and Shah. Few people said, AAP stopped BJP's winning stick and its end of so called MODI wave.

Here are my views and analysis on the same. There are few reasons for massive success got by AAP
1) It was pre-decided by delhi people that "Modi for PM and Kejriwal for CM". In general LS election all 7 seats won by BJP with comprehensive margin because Modi was best option available for PM post. There are many Modi supporters voted to AAP in Delhi election as Kejriwal was the best option for CM post. So nothing could do BJP there as people's mindset was clear.
2) BJP's campaign didn't look promising as it was in LS election. Bringing Kiran Bedi at very last moment as CM candidate goes against them.
3) Negative campaign by Modi and few personal attacks goes in favor of Kejriwal.
4) Kiran Bedi failed to impress with her 6-P or 6-S formula where as on other side Kejriwal did nice ground level politics by connecting with people with their daily issues.
5) Less campaign by Congress and other small parties and less number of independent candidates boosted AAP's vote percentage where as BJP manage to keep their vote percentage with only 1% lost. So all other votes shifted to AAP on every seat.

Now is it lost of Modi or Shah? Certainly not. Modi was not contested this election. He was doing campaign as BJP member. so does Amit Shah. We have seen Modi wave in LS election where Modi was PM candidate and got huge success the wave ended there. All the states election BJP won after that, even though Modi did campaign for BJP, they won because there was no other better option available and not because of Modi wave. Modi is most popular leader in India and BJP using his face in state elections but if they loose it doesn't mean lost of Modi as he is not contesting for any post there. Also 9 months Modi Gov in center have done good work and we have not seen any dissatisfaction among the people. People have voted to AAP by 49 days of past gov experience of AAP and good positive campaign by Kejriwal. It was not anti-BJP votes but vote for good CM candidate and new-style politics.

BJP still looks strong in upcoming UP and Bihar election and Delhi result wont affect BJP much. Performance of center gov and few state gov like Maharashtra certainly going to help them in coming election.

At the end, It was great decision by Delhi people. Remember monopoly decreases the quality and competition increase the quality. Presence of opponent like AAP in at least one state like Delhi, certainly put pressure on central government to perform better. Also it would great to see coordination between Delhi state gov and central gov to resolve the issues Delhi currently having.
